Serving Children, Youth and Families

We support the spiritual and intellectual growth of children and youth within our church and community through a variety of programs. Our activities provide a safe, fun environment for children and youth to communicate openly, learn about faith, and develop as individuals.

Sunday School

Sundays | 10:00 am

The children begin the worship service with their parents in the Los Altos UCC sanctuary. They are dismissed after Children’s Time to either Sunday School or Children’s Church.

We offer a values-based curriculum for our Sunday School classes. Games and crafts are some of the fun ways we help children learn. The youth group, led by youth coordinator Sumer Lesser, has sharpened its focus and is the midst of planning both social and service-based activities.

2017-18 Sunday School Curriculum

PreK/K (ages 3-5): “WHIRL CLASSROOM”

Whirl equips teachers to help kids experience Bible stories in an age appropriate, vivid way and then apply the lessons and stories to their young lives.

Grades 1–8: “A JOYFUL PATH” Spiritual Curriculum

“A Joyful Path” is a progressive curriculum that is nature centered, joyful, compassionate, and intelligent. It teaches children/youth to ask questions and be curious, to be creative and share, to find compassion for all beings, to be inclusive and tolerant, to find the divine in All, to honor, protect, serve and be in awe of Mother Nature, to be brave, courageous and stand for peace and justice... And much more!

Children's Church

Fourth Sunday | 10:00 am | McNeil Hall Stage

Children’s Church, held on the fourth Sunday of each month, features worship, learning, music and activities focused around core Christian values. The program is a child/youth friendly worship service that takes place on the stage in McNeil Hall. Children from 1st to 8th grade can participate in this youth/children-led worship with favorite songs and music, Bible lesson and games.

Youth and interested adults are encouraged to help lead and support this new program as we create a meaningful worship experience for our children. We are looking for those willing to share music, stories, faith experiences, Bible games, etc. with our children/youth during Children’s Church on a fourth Sunday.

Talk to Ginger Joseph if you are interested in participating in this program.
